Miranda Lambert, Reba, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood and Willie Nelson are just a handful of the stars who help paint a picture of the Coal Miner’s Daughter in the new PBS documentary American Masters – Loretta Lynn: Still a Mountain Girl.
“Loretta always just said exactly what she was going through right then in her music, and that’s why it resonates with us,” Miranda says in a preview of the new episode of the long-running series. The show also features an appearance by Sissy Spacek, who won an Academy Award playing the groundbreaking singer/songwriter in the 1980 adaptation of her autobiography.
“Being a part of the American Masters series makes you feel like, ‘Hey, I really have accomplished something great,” the icon from Butcher Holler, Kentucky, adds with her typical down-home plain-spokenness.
The special premieres March 4 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS, the same day Loretta’s new Full Circle album comes out.
