ABC/Dick Clark ProductionsThe ACM Awards marked Carrie Underwood‘s return to the stage following a bad fall late last year, and the singer had a cheerleader in Miranda Lambert.

Speaking to reporters following her three wins at the awards show Sunday evening in Las Vegas, the “Keeper of the Flame” singer praised Carrie’s perseverance.

“It makes me proud to be a woman in this industry when I see her sing up there and do that,” she says of Carrie’s live debut of new single “Cry Pretty.” “She’s one of the greatest singers of all time, in any genre of music, and can sing me under the table.”

Miranda adds, “I say that every time and I will continue to say that, but I’m just proud of her and I know how strong she is and how hard she’s worked.”

Miranda herself had a memorable night. As previously reported, she’s now the most awarded artist in ACM History, having amassed 32 trophies over the years. To what does she credit her success?

“I just always try to live in the moment I’m in and make myself better and try to be better every other time,” she explains. “I try to reinvent and try to be a better writer and a better singer and a better performer, a better person all around I guess, and so I don’t dwell on any of the past.”
