Sony Music NashvilleMiranda Lambert returned to the stage to sing “Heart Like Mine” with her friend and co-writer on the song, Ashley Monroe, Wednesday night at The Basement East in Nashville. It was Miranda’s first public appearance since she announced her divorce from Blake Shelton on Monday.
The duet was the unplanned encore to Ashley’s album release show for her new album, The Blade. Miranda came out wearing little makeup and exclaiming that she was only wearing her Target dress. She seemed to gain strength as the two swapped vocals.
The lyrics seemed to speak to Miranda’s resilient spirit, especially the first line of “Heart Like Mine”: “I ain’t the kind you take home to mama/I ain’t the kind to wear no ring.”
Ashley’s new album, The Blade, comes out Friday. Miranda will perform a full, sold-out acoustic show this Tuesday night at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville.
