ABC/Mark LevineLike so many of us these days, Christmas-lover Brett Eldredge is busy decking the halls. But “The Long Way” hitmaker admits he does have some help.

“I deck out my house with Christmas stuff. Do I do it myself one-hundred percent? No, my mom is the mastermind of all the décor,” he says. “If it was something like really awful-looking, I would tell her. But other than that, I’m like, ‘Let’s go crazy. I’ll help you set it up. You tell me where to put stuff.’ And we decorate the tree.”

For Brett, it was especially sweet to get to play his own holiday record, Glow, while trimming the tree last year.

“We always talked about, like one day we’re gonna listen to my own Christmas album together,” he recalls, “after all these years of listening to all these classics that inspired me to make that album. So it was special.”

Some other parts of Brett’s yuletide plans didn’t go quite so well, however.

“Last year, I got a full-blown, giant, Fraser Fir Christmas tree,” he explains. “Then I got allergic to it. Two days after hauling it into the place, and I’m sneezing, I got a sore throat. I’m like, ‘What in the world?’ And lo and behold, it was the Christmas tree, and I was so heartbroken, because I always wanted to have my own Christmas tree, like a real one, in my house.”

Brett goes on: “My Christmas dreams were broken and I went and I got a really, really cool fake one. But that’s fine. I’ll just get candles that smell like Christmas trees, I guess.”

For 2017, Brett’s Christmas album, Glow, is available on vinyl for the very first time.
