IMG_9028Nonconforming use alternatives had Manhattan City Commissioners occupied last night.

City Attorney Katherine Jackson outlined alternatives for non-conforming use in the newly rezoned area east of City Park, during last nights City Commission work session.

The commission requested a list of alternatives in December after approving the rezoning of the East City Park neighborhood and were provided with the requested list last night.

Alternatives presented included the development of a grandfather or amnesty program, that would mend the zoning regulations to declare certain nonconforming uses as “legal” even if they do not meet the current definition of a legal nonconforming use.

Commissioner Wynn Butler cited that his top priority in the matter, is to focus on taking care of the properties in the newly rezoned area.

Following the meeting, City Administration will be able to further develop a plan of action, as the project moves forward.
