
Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries Sunday after a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 24 west of U.S. 59.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11 a.m. when 56-year-old Dwight O. Mewes of Ogden was riding a 2017 Harley-Davidson westbound on U.S. 24. Mewes reportedly braked for a vehicle in front of him, lost control of the motorcycle, and slid into an eastbound Nissan Frontier.
Mewes was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka with suspected serious injuries.
A passenger in the pickup also sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to Stormont Vail. The driver of the pickup was not injured.
