Two men serving time with the Kansas Department of Corrections in Geary County murder-related chases are up for the next set of public comment sessions and parole hearings.
Frank J. Pencek Jr., 68, was convicted in 1975 in connection with a May 1974 incident involving murder, kidnapping and rape. Elizabeth Bush, 20, was the victim in the case, which occurred at Milford Lake. She was studying for a recreation degree at Kansas State at the time and had been working a summer job at Milford. She was stabbed 27 times. At a 2006 hearing before the Parole Board, then Sheriff Jim Jensen and the victim’s family asked Pencek be denied parole. He is currently being held at Lansing.
Also up for possible parole is James Davis, 54, was sentenced in late 1992 in a July 1992 second degree murder case in Geary County. He is currently a prisoner at Winfield.
Public comment sessions are set for November 16th at the Derby Police and Courts building, November 18th at the Topeka Municipal Court House, and November 21st at Kansas City City Hall. Letters may also be sent to the Prisoner Review Board with the Kansas Department of Corrections.
A parole hearing will be held in December, with the earliest possible release date in January of 2017.
