Scotty McCreery will sing “The Star Spangled Banner” before this Saturday’s AFC Divisional Playoff game as the New England Patriots take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The American Idol champ admits he has a definite prejudice in the match-up.
“My Dad, who was raised in New England, instilled a love of the New England Patriots in me from birth. I was at the Super Bowl last year when they won — maybe that makes me their good luck charm,” he jokes. “I cannot wait to sing in Gillette Stadium and then cheer the Patriots on to another victory!”
You can catch Scotty’s performance from Foxborough, Massachusetts at 4:35 p.m. ET Saturday on CBS.
Soon after he’s finished rooting for the Patriots, he’ll head back into the studio to finish up his new album, which will feature his current hit “Southern Belle.” On May 3, Scotty’s memoir Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream, will be released.
