A 23-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being struck by an SUV Wednesday morning near the intersection of K-113 and Anderson Avenue in Manhattan, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:39 a.m. July 1 on the southbound K-113 entrance ramp from Anderson Avenue.

Troopers said a 2016 Ford Flex, driven by 23-year-old Khiara A. Lawrence of Junction City, was traveling southbound on the entrance ramp when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway to the west and struck a pedestrian who was running southbound on the shoulder of the ramp.

The pedestrian, identified as 23-year-old Marco V. Retamoza of Garden City, was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital with suspected serious injuries. Lawrence was not injured in the crash.
