PetPoolooza kicked off on Saturday for it’s 14th year in Manhattan after a year hiatus, as several pets and their owners went for a swim at the City Park pool.

PetPoolooza is a well attended event, having the benefit of getting both owners and their dogs some quality swim time and exercise. It’s also the last day the pool is in service before closing for the fall.

KMAN spoke with Aquatics Director Sydni Baker, about why this event is held at the city park pool.

Animal Control Officer Brandon Sokol believes this event does well in the many years it’s been held with relatively no problems.

Shelter Medicine Intern Dr. Hayley Barkoviak was onsite with her team to offer rabies vaccines for the animals, and explains how they treat the dogs while vaccinating them.
