A Pittsburg man’s trial was cancelled this week following a denial for change of judge and the prosecutor’s notice of interlocutory appeal with the Kansas Court of Appeals regarding pre-trial rulings in the case made by Riley County District Court Judge John Bosch.

Jeffery Scott Bailey, 44, was scheduled to be in a jury trial from Tuesday to Friday for a case charging him with three counts of rape of a minor under 14 years old. He was arrested April 16 for five counts of rape against a girl he knows, born in 2010. Two of the counts were dropped when a judge found there was insufficient evidence to support the claims.

The Mercury does not identify victims of sexual crimes.
