
Local firefighters responded Thursday afternoon to a prescribed pasture burn in southern Riley County that became out of control, scorching an estimated 400 acres in its path.
Officials with Riley County Fire District No. 1 were dispatched at 1:30 p.m. to the area of Tabor Creek Lane, south of Zeandale. Volunteer fire crews found the fire had spread south into timbered draws and onto neighboring properties.
