Riley County continues to see improvement in the number of positive cases of coronavirus locally.

Health officials announced no new cases Wednesday and remains at 60 total positive cases since mid-March. Of that total, six cases are currently active 53 people have recovered and one person has died. There are currently 83 pending test results and 828 people have tested negative for the virus. Ascension Via Christi Hospital had no positive patients as of Wednesday but were monitoring one person under investigation, showing symptoms.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment currently lists 24 total cases in Pottawatomie County. Health officials there have not released an official breakdown of numbers but as of Monday were monitoring just four active cases.

The numbers are vastly improved from one month ago on April 20, when Riley County had 24 active cases. The most active cases reported in a given day was on April 28, when Riley County had 25 active cases. The first reported case of coronavirus locally was reported two months ago on March 20.

Statewide there are 8,539 total cases of coronavirus that have been reported since mid-March and 178 deaths. There are 760 people currently hospitalized statewide for the virus.
