Riley County Police say a third suspect is now jailed in an ongoing rape investigation involving a 12-year-old victim.
Police said Tuesday that 20-year-old Brian Griffith of Fort Riley was arrested in connection on the offenses of one count of rape and one count of criminal sodomy, in an alleged incident Nov. 24. Griffith was issued a total bond of $250,000 and remains in the Riley County Jail.
Police have similarly in the past week arrested two other men on similar charges. All three of them are Fort Riley soldiers. On Dec. 4, RCPD arrested 19-year-old Zelond Benymon of Fort Riley and charged him with three counts of rape and two counts of aggravated sodomy. On Dec. 1, RCPD arrested 23-year-old Tavian Garrett and charged him with five counts of rape and five counts of aggravated sodomy. Both are jailed on separate bonds of $350,000 each.
RCPD and Fort Riley are reportedly working together on this investigation. No further information is being released, due to the nature of the alleged crimes.
