A report for rape was filed in the city limits of Manhattan Friday evening at approximately 5:20. This report was in relation to an incident that allegedly occurred between January 26th and  27th. Police were told that a 21-year-old female had possibly become the victim of this crime when a 35-year-old male reportedly engaged in unwanted and inappropriate sexual contact.
Officers continue to investigate the matter. The victim and the suspect in this investigation are known to each other. Due to the nature of this crime no further information was released. No arrests had been made at the time of this report.

Riley County Police filed a report for and are currently investigating a report of aggravated criminal sodomy which allegedly occurred Sunday at about 11:50 AM in the city limits of Manhattan. Police were made aware of this incident which involved a 55-year-old male victim and a 51-year-old male suspect who were known to each other.
This incident involved inappropriate physical contact that was sexual in nature. Due to the nature of this crime no further information was released. No arrests had been made at the time of this report.

Police in Riley County arrested a Wamego man the end of last week for probation violation. Monday’s RCPD activity report indicates Mark Whitt, 42, was taken into custody Friday at approximately 10:20 AM.

The no bond warrant was served while Whitt at the Riley County Police Department and originated in Shawnee County.

A Manhattan man faces a $10,000 bond following his arrest the end of last week. Stephen Thompson, 52, was taken into custody while at the Riley County Police Department Friday at about 11:30 AM.

Thompson was arrested on a warrant from Pottawatomie County for the offense of distributing opiates, opium, or narcotic drugs.

After a physical altercation with police a 54-year-old Manhattan man faces charges. Andrew Sutton was arrested for the offenses of battery of a law enforcement officer and interference with law enforcement. Officers reportedly attempted to detain Sutton during an investigation and were met with physical resistance. One officer was struck in the face by Sutton’s elbow as well as kicked in the leg.

There were no significant injuries sustained. Sutton was given a bond of $3,000. He was arrested Friday at approximately 2:35 PM.

A 25-year-old Clay Center man was arrested on a now bond warrant this past weekend. Joel Chenault II was arrested while near the intersection of Cavalry and Barton Roads in Riley County. Chenault was arrested on a warrant for probation violation and given “no bond.” This warrant originated in Lincoln County, Kansas.
