Riley County Police Department reported via twitter on Monday that they responded to 20 vehicle accidents involving deer in October. In addition, so far in November there have already been 10 incidents involving deer.

As a result, the RCPD has come out with some friendly reminders to anyone who may become involved in a vehicle-deer collision.

The first thing to do is make sure everyone is ok. Second, you should pull your vehicle off to the side of the road. Third, call RCPD or emergency services for your location. It’s also important if you’re involved in accident to stay on scene in your vehicle until you make contact with law enforcement.

The responding officer will make proper arrangements for the deer or carcass.
