Warner Music NashvilleYou can think of his EP, Fix a Drink, as Chris Janson 2.0. The “Buy Me a Boat” hitmaker believes his new collection of songs has everything fans loved about his first album…but without all the stress.

“It gave me a different kind of freedom,” Chris says of recording the new project. “I enjoyed putting the first Buy Me a Boat album together. But everything was just happening.”

“It was like, ‘Oh my God, I was just signed to Warner and we’ve got a single and it’s flying up the chart and we’ve got to put this together and we’ve got to…’” he trails off, recalling how busy he was. “And I’m like, ‘What’s even happening?’ I didn’t even get a chance to breathe.”

Chris was so busy, in fact, that he says there are several songs on Buy Me a Boat that he’s never sung anywhere except in the studio. But he vows that won’t be the case with his sophomore effort.

“This album is different in the fact that you’re gonna get to hear me play all these songs,” he promises. “When I made this album, I wanted to — and I will forever do this for the future — make sure that every single song on the record I would feel comfortable singing at any time… I’m ready. It’s on point!”

The five-song Fix a Drink EP comes out today. You’ll be hearing the live versions of the tracks this summer on Sam Hunt’s 15 in a 30 Tour. Chris next performs with Sam and Maren Morris June 15 in Toronto, Canada.
