Sam Hunt is basking in the glow of scoring three straight #1 hits from his debut album, Montevallo. The fourth single, “Break Up in a Small Town,” is sure to follow suit, but Sam is already focused on creating the follow-up to his blockbuster first project.
Sam says of Montevallo, “Fortunately, the songs have done well. It’s sort of bittersweet because they’ve done well, but they’ve moved really quickly, so now it’s time to put out new music, and I haven’t been home at all to write. So, I’m sweating that a little bit.”
Now that he’s wrapped up his opening gig on Lady Antebellum‘s Wheels Up tour, Sam looks forward to reconnecting with his songwriter friends to create new music this fall. While he’s writing, Sam will be thinking about all the folks in his band and crew that now depend on him having more hit songs.
“I have a new appreciation for these songs and what’s happening in these writing rooms when we get back and hunker down to write new music,” he explains. “That’s sort of my priority one right now is getting back home to try to start working on a new record.”
Overall, Sam is extremely thankful for the opportunity to put out a sophomore project.
He adds, “It’s an exciting time for me.”
