ABC/Image Group LAThis weekend, Scotty McCreery wraps up his Seasons Change Tour with shows in Boston, Massachusetts and Westbury, New York.

“Best Shot” hitmaker Jimmie Allen‘s been opening the tour, but one things fans may not realize is how far Scotty and Jimmie go back.  Jimmie was a contender on season 10 of American Idol, the same year Scotty won.

Scotty remembers being impressed with Jimmie’s talent even then.

“When I was sixteen,” Scotty explains, “and we were both on the show and we were all in a circle, just playing guitar singing songs and Jimmie was there, and I was like, ‘Man, this guy, he’s got the goods for sure.’ So, we do go back.”

That doesn’t mean that Jimmie hasn’t caused Scotty to worry a little on the road, especially when it comes to his beloved new puppy, Moose.

“[He] kinda stole my dog the other night,” Scotty reveals. “I was in Raleigh, and Moose was on my bus and then all the sudden my friends were there. And for an hour, ‘I was like, “Where is my dog?”‘”

“And Moose was on Jimmie’s bus. Jimmie was just hanging out with him. My sister brought him over there, and they were just playing with the dog. So the dog went AWOL for a little bit, but Jimmie was taking care of him, so he was in good hands.”

“But yeah, I don’t know,” Scotty adds, “His group on the road, they’re a trip. They like to have a good time, for sure.”

Scotty’s current single, “This Is It,” is currently in the top five, while Jimmie’s just released “Make Me Want To” as the follow-up to his multiple-week #1, “Best Shot.”
