U.S. Senator Jerry Moran visited the Riley County Police Department Monday to announce $250,000 in federal dollars has been secured to support the department’s crime lab.
The police department hosted an impromptu news conference Monday morning, later stating the upgrades will enhance working conditions for lab personnel and evidence preservation. RCPD released the following statement:
“As a senior member of the appropriations committee, Senator Moran understands the critical importance of ensuring that every government dollar spent yields tangible results. Committed to fiscal responsibility, he recognizes the fundamental duty of public officials to ensure taxpayer money is used effectively and strives to return tax money to Kansans.”
Members of the media were invited to Monday’s news conference by Sen. Moran’s office, but the notification was sent only a half hour prior to the event.
