Slick roads are causing multiple accidents in the Riley County area and, the Riley County Police Department has activated the emergency reporting phase which means if there are no injuries in an accident, motorists are asked to exchange information and remove vehicles from the road. RCPD asks that motorists not call in to report the accident unless there are injuries.
Riley County Emergency Management Director Pat Collins tells KMAN there have been multiple accidents on I-70 with black ice on the roadway–also one in northern Riley County . At about 6:45 a.m. there was a report of an accident on Tuttle Creek Boulevard in northern Riley County a mile south of Madison Road.
As K-MAN reported earlier shortly before 6:30 a.m. there was a report of a vehicle flipped over on I-70 eastbound near mile marker 320 between Frontage and Tallgrass Road in Riley County. Emergency crews were responding. Initial reports indicated no injuries but an individual trapped in the vehicle.
