A St. George woman was injured Tuesday afternoon when the vehicle she was driving collided with a Kansas Highway Patrol cruiser.

According to KHP, 30-year-old Trooper Scott Moses had been parked alongside Highway 24, near Rockenham Road in Pottawatomie County, when he pulled onto the road to attempt to stop a vehicle that had passed by.

Investigators say Moses was driving east and moved into the left lane, according to WIBW in Topeka. He was in the process of turning on his lights when he saw a westbound vehicle turning left in front of him.

He swerved right to avoid a crash just as the woman driving the other car, 43-year-old Jennifer Rogers of St. George, accelerated to avoid a collision. KHP says Rogers failed to yield. The accident happened just after 2:30 p.m.

Rogers was taken to Stormont Vail hospital to be evaluated for her injuries. Moses suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The KHP crash log indicated both Rogers and Moses were their wearing seatbelts.
