ABC/Image Group LAIf you keep up with Scotty McCreery at all, you probably know the North Carolina native is a ride-or-die New England Patriots fan. So it’s no surprise the American Idol winner is pretty desperate to be in the stands on Sunday as the Pats take on the Rams.
In fact, he believes his presence at Super Bowl LIII is crucial to a New England victory. It’s this simple: The Pats seem to win the Super Bowl when he’s there, and lose if he’s not.
“I mean, if the Patriots are listening, I’ve been to two Super Bowls,” Scotty explains. “I went to the one in Phoenix. They almost lost it on the one-yard line, and they didn’t. They ended up winning that one.”
“I went to the one in Houston a couple years ago where they were down 28 to 3 and I thought it was over, but they came back and won,” he continues. “And last year, I wasn’t there.”
“The previous two years, I sang for the Patriots and sang for their fans,” he recalls, “and last year, I couldn’t make it happen. They didn’t have their good luck charm in the stands, and they lost.”
The “This Is It” hitmaker has cleared his schedule this weekend, in hopes of helping his team secure a victory.
“This year, if they’d like their good luck charm to be back there, I took the weekend off. I’m available,” he offers. “I can be there in a heartbeat.”
“So, yeah. I’m happy to help out the Pats any way I can,” he adds.
You can tune in to watch Sunday’s match-up between the Patriots and the Rams Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
