Taylor Swift has purchased homes in New England and Los Angeles since becoming a global superstar, but she’ll always think of Nashville as her home base. In a new interview with Time on Music City’s booming economy, Taylor reveals her practical reasons for working mainly out of Nashville.
“Choosing to have my management company based in Nashville just made sense because my family is there as well as my record label,” Taylor says. “I never think about moving home bases. It’s hard to describe why you consider a town your home base, except that when people ask me, ‘Where’s home?’, I don’t even think before I say ‘Nashville.'”
The city also offers Taylor an escape from the paparazzi that track her every move in New York or L.A.
She says, “You don’t see as much evidence of me spending time in Nashville, because I’m not being photographed at the grocery store. I’m just able to wander around the grocery store and make casual conversation with the girl standing next to me in the produce aisle.”
Taylor is currently working on the follow-up to her multi-platinum album, RED. She’ll take The RED Tour to Asia starting June 1 in Tokyo.
