A man from Laredo, Texas appeared in Riley County District Court Monday, to plead not guilty in a case charging him with multiple sexual battery charges.

Abel Gutierrez Jr., 35, appeared for arraignment with Judge Kendra Lewison. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of sexual battery.

Gutierrez was arrested last January, in after a warrant was issued by Riley County police in 2023. The warrant and arrest are connected to events in July 2022. A complaint filed with the court said Gutierrez touched three people born in 2003, 2002 and 1988 without their consent.

Currently out of jail on a $15,000 bond, Gutierrez now is set for a jury trial in his case, starting May 5.
