RhinoDiehard fans have long known that Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt have recorded significantly more material together than has ever been released. Now, thanks to Emmylou’s efforts as producer, we’ll get to hear a large part of it. Rhino will release the three-disc compilation The Complete Trio Collection on September 9.
The package will contain remastered versions of the original albums, 1987’s Trio and 1999’s Trio II, as well as a 20-track bonus disc that includes alternate versions from the sessions, as well as 11 unreleased songs. A single-disc version of the project, titled My Dear Companion: Selections from the Trio Collection, will be available as well.
Lovers of vinyl are also in for a treat. Trio II will be available on record for the first time ever, while the bonus material will also find its way onto a 2-record set called Farther Along.
So far, the collaborations between three of music’s greatest female voices have sold more than five million copies and garnered three Grammys.
