The Manhattan-Ogden school board will vote Wednesday whether to mandate mask wearing in district buildings through at least mid-September.

An indoors mask requirement was announced two weeks ago but didn’t list an end date. The plan being reviewed and likely approved Wednesday would see masks required through Sept. 24 regardless of a person’s vaccination status.

The district says it will base its guidance on COVID-19 data from the Riley County Health Department as they return to in=person five days a week learning starting Aug. 18.

A number of local school districts are considering mask mandates before classes begin later this month. USD 378 Riley County Schools voted Monday against a mandate, but will strongly encourage mask use. A similar decision was also made recently at USD 384 Blue Valley Schools.
