CMA Vocal Group of the Year Little Big Town adds their signature harmonies to Vince Gill’s new single, “Take Me Down.” The tune he co-wrote with eighties pop icon Richard Marx is the first taste of Vince’s forthcoming album, Down to My Last Bad Habit. The five-time CMA Male Vocalist of the Year had a hand in writing all of the project’s dozen tracks, including one more with Marx called “When It’s Love.”
“Forty years into this, it’s still as much fun as it’s ever been to play music,” the Country Music Hall of Famer says. “At the end of the day, what I get excited about is doing something I haven’t done before. When I record a song, I feel successful if I’ve accomplished something new.”
Little Big Town isn’t Vince’s only special guest on his first solo album in four years either. Newcomer Cam joins in on “I’ll Be Waiting for You,” while Ashley Monroe helped pen “My Favorite Movie” for Vince, who also happens to have produced her last two efforts. “Sad One Comin’ On” is a tribute Vince wrote for the late country icon George Jones.
The Oklahoma native will be staying busy until the record’s February 12 release. He plays a series of holiday shows next month with wife Amy Grant at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, before setting out on an acoustic 13-city tour with Lyle Lovett in February.
