As the weather turns warmer, it’s a perfect time to get out and get active.

Gary Fike, Riley County Extension Director says now is the time to get registered for Walk Kansas, an event that has been around for quite some time that encourages people to get moving. Fike tells KMAN the event is hosted by the K-State Research and Extension. He talks more about the event.

“It’s all about being healthy,” Fike says. “It’s all about getting out there and stretching your legs- walking, jogging, running, whatever you’ve got to do just to keep moving, and that’s what is most important.”

Fike says registration for the event is now open and says they expect to see another great turn out for the event.

“More and more people are realizing that the better care that you take of your health, or more you take charge of your own health, has to do a lot with, you know, later in life trying to avoid some of the commonalities that we get.”

Walk Kansas begins March 28th and runs through May 22nd. For more information or to register now, visit walkkansas.org.
