The Wamego City Commission secured a new fire truck during Tuesday’s meeting.
City Manager Merl Page reviewed the financing of the purchase, noting that 550 thousand dollars would be paid out of the Fire Department Reserves, and the remaining 300 thousand would be handled through a lease/purchase for 10 years.
Bids were received from four local banks, with Kaw Valley Bank and Trust the low bidder with an interest rate of 2.9 percent.
Following the approval, the Commission approved an ordinance to authorize the expenditure of the funds.
Commissioner Robert Morse was not present.
The Wamego City Commission also approved a lot split request during Tuesday’s meeting.
City Manager Merl Page introduced a memorandum from Planning Commission Secretary Ken Stein with a request to approve a lot split creating two lots which runs along Highway 24 and sixth Street Road.
The property is owned by Tom Farr and called Coldwater Creek Land Development Company. After discussion the Commission approved the variance request on the recommendation by the Planning Commission. Approval was given by a vote of 4 to 0.
