Current Lansing High School Principal Rob McKim is visiting Wamego Tuesday. He’s one of four candidates the school board is hosting this week. McKim has 28 years of education experience, including 15 years as a high school math teacher, working in El Dorado and also Fort Scott, where he served as assistant principal. He was also principal at Baldwin High School and named Principal of the Year in 2013.

The board Monday hosted current USD 208 Trego Superintendent Tavis Desormiers for an interview and tour of the district facilities, who is a native of Silver Lake and has a son currently attending Kansas State University.

Two additional candidates will interview with the district Wednesday and Thursday. The board’s decision could be announced as soon as Friday.

All interviews are scheduled for 6 p.m. with the board meeting in executive sessions.

Names of each candidate are being withheld until the morning of each candidate’s interview. KMAN will follow up with another report Thursday on the other two candidates.

The Kansas Association of School Boards is overseeing the search for the district.
