A Wamego Co-Working company is the recipient of a USDA grant, one of 26 projects around Kansas to receive an award.

Iron Clad, LLC will receive close to $11,000 from the USDA, part of a rural development investment initiative to improve energy infrastructure. Iron Clad will use the funds to install a rooftop mounted solar array that should replace close to 87 percent of its energy usage — the same amount of energy necessary to power two homes.

That sum is just one piece of the over $833,000 the USDA announced it is investing in Kansas. The largest investment is committed to the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas, which will receive $177,000 to expand the sales and use of ethanol fuels.
