Union Pacific No. 4014, a 132-foot-long and 1.2 million-pound steam locomotive built in 1941, made its way into Manhattan without any stops. This was the third time it has come through town, after previously appearing in 2021 and 2019.
The Big Boy has been on what Union Pacific officials call a “Heartland of America Tour,” which started Aug. 28 in Cheyenne, Wyoming and will conclude later this month after the tour has taken the steam engine through nine additional states.
