Riley County Commission Chairman Ron Wells announced on KMAN’s “In Focus” Tuesday morning that he will seek another term.
Wells, who represents District 3, was elected to his first term in November 2012 and said he decided to run again when it was learned recently that the likelihood of Wildcat Creek getting federal funds to fix flooding issues was going to become a reality.
“I ran on that, and just assumed it would be 50 years before anything ever happened,” he said. “But now… we’re confident we’re going to get the money for Wildcat Creek. I would like to stay in long enough to at least see the lion’s share of it done.
“So I decided I’m going to go ahead and run for just one term.”
Wells was born and raised on a farm in Riley County and is joined on the commission by Robert Boyd and Ben Wilson.
Boyd’s term also expires in January.
