December 10, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood celebrated a decade of being husband and wife. The two-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year admits being married to her superstar tour partner has only intensified her love for the season.
“It’s my favorite holiday, so I am that girl that decorates over the top,” she confesses. “I can’t wait to get the Christmas tree up, and I try to put it up… I used to be the girl that said, ‘Man, they just shouldn’t be talkin’ about Christmas before we get through Thanksgiving,’ but now I want to put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving because I want as much time — you put a lot of time into decorating your house, you know, I mean, we string garland and lights and the whole bit — and I want ’em to be up as long as they can.”
Since she has three best-selling cookbooks and a successful show on Food Network, Trisha’s probably not boasting when she says the Brooks-Yearwood home smells as good as it looks.
“I do everything from obviously the holiday meals to — my friends and I have what we call a ‘cookie party,’ and everybody comes over, and we bake our favorite cookies. And so there’s tons of mixers goin’, tons of ovens goin’, and tons of cookies. And then we all make plates and trade out and give ’em away and stuff. So, it does smell good at my house during the holidays,” she admits.
You can check out Trisha’s prowess in the kitchen when the seventh season of Trisha’s Southern Kitchen premieres Saturday, January 2 at 10:30 a.m. ET. She and Garth get back to work January 14 when they continue their World Tour in Sunrise, Florida.
