While the first snowflakes of the season fell Monday, the first real blast of winter weather comes next as a Winter Weather Advisory is posted area wide from tonight through Wednesday night.
A prolonged period of wintry precipitation is expected with the best threat for accumulating snow mainly along and north of I-70. The National Weather Service says 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible. Further south, the threat will be freezing rain, with upwards of two-tenths of an inch of ice accumulation toward the I-35 corridor. Temperatures will hover around the freezing mark Wednesday.
Widespread impacts to roadways is expected. Motorists should use caution when driving.
Halloween looks to be clear but cold, with temperatures in the mid-30s dropping to the mid-20s by the evening.
