ABC/Image Group LAAs excited as Dierks Bentley was about his own four nods at this year’s CMA Awards, he couldn’t wait to tell rocker Elle King about their shared nomination for Musical Event of the Year for their current single, “Different for Girls.”

“I’m gonna give her a call as soon as I can and wake her up. Maybe she’s still up. You never know — Elle, she might still be up partying from the night before,” he joked.

Dierks says the “Ex’s & Oh’s” hitmaker’s recent visit to perform at the CMT Music Awards and CMA Music Festival was just the beginning of a love affair with Music City that’s almost certain to continue.

“Just to see the way everyone treated her in this town, so kindly,” he recalls. “She just fell in love with Nashville. And it just made me so proud to be a citizen here… and just to see the way our community treats people from the outside. And she loves country music. She’s gonna flip when she hears about these nominations!”

Dierks and Elle’s duet is currently top five and climbing on the country chart.
