ABC/Ida Mae AstuteLuke Bryan is officially headed to the judges’ table for the new season of American Idol on ABC.

The “Light It Up” hitmaker will be seated alongside the legendary Lionel Richie and pop superstar Katy Perry, with Ryan Seacrest returning as the show’s host.

While there was lots of speculation about who’d ultimately end up on the panel, Luke apparently consulted his pal Blake Shelton — who’s on NBC’s competing show The Voice, of course — as he was entertaining the Idol offer.  And apparently, Blake gave Luke some advice about negotiating his fee.

“I’m sure the executives at ABC are really p***** at me right now for what they probably had to pay him to get him on that show,” Blake joked with Entertainment Tonight, as they caught up with him at the opening of his Ole Red Tishomingo bar and restaurant.

“Good for you Luke!” Blake goes on. Stick it to ’em! Luke Bryan’s not cheap. He looks it, but he’s not!”

While we don’t know exactly what Luke will be bringing home for his American Idol appearances, we should learn more about the show itself Wednesday morning, when the new cast appears together for the first time. You can watch them on ABC’s Good Morning America starting at 7 a.m.
