April Garner, 24, of Manhattan, was arrested while in the 1000 block of Thurston Street in Manhattan Thursday at approximately 6:40 p.m. Garner was arrested on the offense of theft by deception and criminal use of a financial card which was listed on a warrant from Pottawatomie County. At the time of the report Garner was confined at the Riley County Jail. on a bond of $10,000.


Police arrested Randolph Byrd, 44, of Duncanville, Texas, while at the Riley County Police Department on Thursday at approximately 4:05 p.m.. Byrd was arrested on a warrant for the offense of failure to appear with a bond of $5,000, which was listed on a Riley County warrant (original offense of theft). At the time of this report he was confined at the Riley County Jail.


The RCPD arrested Bryson Moffett, 18, of Manhattan, on a warrant with “no bond” for the offense of probation violation. Moffett was arrested while in the 800 block of N. 4th Street in Manhattan on Thursday at approximately 5:20 p.m. At the time of this report he was confined at the Riley County Jail.


An arrest for aggravated burglary was made Thursday at approximately 11:55 p.m. and a bond of $10,000 was given. Police arrested Jordan Darling, 22, of Manhattan, after he was found to be inside a home that did not belong to him. Darling sustained laceration type injuries after breaking a window in the home. The residence was occupied at the time of this crime making it an aggravated offense. At the time of this report Darling was confined at the Riley County Jail.


Wendy Montgomery, 46, of Manhattan, was arrested Thursday at approximately 9:00 p.m. while in the 200 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. Montgomery was arrested on the offense of burglary to a dwelling and given a bond of $15,000. Police found her to be in possession of a stolen firearm listed as belonging to a 20-year-old victim in Manhattan (Shane Webb). At the time of this report Montgomery was confined at the Riley County Jail.


Officers with the RCPD responded to a report of an aggravated robbery and kidnapping which began in the 3000 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. Police found that John Kirsch, 48, of Topeka, became the victim of these crimes when suspects that he knew physically battered him (including battery with a blunt object) and attempted to force him to withdrawal funds from an ATM. Prior to reaching an ATM, Kirsch was able to flee from his attackers and contact police. Officers continue to investigate the matter and currently believe this incident to be an isolated event that has no evidence to support an increased danger to the public. This investigation is ongoing and at the time of this report arrests had not been made.
