Chapman High School was briefly under lockdown Friday morning after a video was posted on social media, according to an email sent to KMAN from Chapman Chief of Police Kevin Diercks.

In the video, two CHS students and another adult were seen handling a pistol. In the brief video there were no threats made towards anyone. The video was sent out of one of the individual’s newsfeed so everyone on his list saw it. It was not directed to any individual, according to the CPD.

The individuals were detained and questioned. They were cooperative with law enforcement and the pistol in the video was located outside of Chapman.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted in the investigation and search.

The high school was on lockdown during a search. No weapons were brought to the school and no threats were made. School resumed at approximately 1:15 p.m.

At this time there are no charges.
