Manhattan – Over the weekend, runners got on their marks to raise money for local philanthropic organization, Shepherd’s Crossing. C. Clyde Run is in its 5th year as the organization’s main fundraising event. Through an increase in sponsorship and participation, the fundraiser is close to reaching $100,000 in its 5 year existence.

C. Clyde Jones, the race’s namesake and the first Dean of the College of Business at Kansas State University, said the idea started through students coming together in celebration of the College’s 50th anniversary. Listen to the audio below for  how he connected with Shepherd’s Crossing and became an integral part of its fundraising.

Invited runners included K-state cross county record holder, Laura Galvan, Chernobyl survivor, Tanya Khvitsko, and qualifier for this year’s Boston marathon, Nancy Rusanowsky.

Laura Galvan, originally from Guanajuato, Mexico, graduated last May in Food Science and ran competitively for Kansas State University in Track and Field and Cross Country. She still holds a university record for Cross Country.
