Two Junction City school buildings were briefly placed on lockdown Wednesday morning.

Junction City Police responded to a call around 10 a.m. on the northwest side of the city, resulting in the nearby Karns building and Westwood Elementary school being placed into lock down in an abundance of caution. The schools went on lockdown following an unsubstantiated call reporting shots fired in the area. Officers concluded that there was no threat and no shots were fired in the area of either building.

JCPD says classes resumed as normal following this and that the call was unrelated to either school. All actions taken were cautionary.
