A Manhattan man was arrested Friday evening on multiple new felony charges and several outstanding Riley County District Court warrants, including warrants alleging child rape and aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
The Riley County Police Department said officers filed a report at approximately 9:40 a.m. July 17 alleging aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, criminal damage to property, intimidation of a witness and interference with a law enforcement officer. A 24-year-old woman was listed as the victim, and a known 41-year-old man was identified as the suspect.
Emilio Soto, 41, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 7:36 p.m. on those charges.
During the arrest, officers also served an outstanding 2016 Riley County District Court warrant charging Soto with one count of domestic battery and two 2020 Riley County District Court warrants charging him with six counts of rape in which the offender is older than 18 and the victim is younger than 14, two counts of aggravated domestic battery and one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
Soto was issued a total bond of $522,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail.
Police said investigators also determined Soto is in the United States illegally. The Riley County Police Department said it has contacted its federal law enforcement partners regarding his immigration status, though those agencies did not participate in his arrest.
