The country winners were happy to give back to their fans Sunday night at the American Music Awards.
Florida Georgia Line claimed two awards: favorite duo or group — country and favorite album — country. Backstage, they said they were happy to represent country music.
“The fans got our back,” they continued, noting how “faithful” their followers are.
Similarly, Carrie Underwood, who was named favorite female artist — country, said backstage, “To be able to get up and thank your fans in front of that audience….To be able to declare your love and say thanks on a big, big, big stage like that is really awesome.”
Sam Hunt was stunned to win the prize for New Artist. “I was flattered to be nominated but I knew I was in such great company that I thought the likelihood I’d win this award was probably slim,” he admitted.
