Riley County 4-H students held their annual garage sale fundraiser this past weekend.
The sale happens each spring at the CiCo Park Wreath Barn to benefit the trip to Washington, D.C. which happens every three years. The last trip was in 2019 and students will board a bus to the nation’s capital this summer. Riley County 4H Youth Development Agent John Jobe calls is a trip of a lifetime for these students.
One of those students is Maggie Brummett, a 7-year member of Riley County 4H.
“We have a bunch of people donate their belongings and we sell it all to go on this big trip, it’s called Citizenship Washington Focus, I am really excited” says Brummett.
Donations were dropped off last week and the sale took place at CiCo Park Friday and Saturday. Brummett says she’s excited for the trip.
“We take a bus all the way across the country to Washington, D.C. and we make a bunch of stops along the way and see some cool stuff and get some citizenship in there,” she said.
The two-day fundraiser saw another huge turnout once again, with folks not only donating items but also coming out to purchase.
“The garage sale fundraiser never fails and helps tremendously with their leadership trip to D.C.,” Jobe said.
