RCPDInvestigation

A Manhattan man faces a first degree murder charge after his arrest Saturday evening. Andrew Lynn Gibson, 25, was taken into custody at his home in the 500 block of Stone Drive at about seven p.m.

Riley County Police Public Information Officer Matthew Droge indicated Saturday night the arrest was in connection with an infant death investigation earlier in the week. Droge added a news release will be issued first thing Monday with details.

As KMAN reported Friday, at approximately 9:19 p.m. Thursday, RCPD officers and additional emergency crews responded to the 500 block of Stone Drive in Manhattan for a report of an infant not breathing.

Upon arrival emergency crews confirmed the infant was not breathing and began resuscitation efforts. However, the infant was not revived and was later pronounced dead at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

Gibson’s bond was set at $500,000.
