ABC/Bob D’AmicoBrad Paisley is no stranger to live television thanks to his long-standing gig co-hosting the CMA Awards with Carrie Underwood. So, has that experience prepared him for serving as an expert along with Ludacris and Kesha on ABC’s new music competition, Rising Star?

“Kesha’s not got the foul mouth Carrie does in private,” Brad says with a laugh. “I think it’s probably prepared me a little bit.”

The contestants on Rising Star will find out in real time if they’re going forward in the competition as the wall separating the performer from the experts in the studio rises based on viewers’ votes. Fans can download the Rising Star app on their mobile devices to get in on the voting action. Brad hopes they find a singer as talented as his pal Carrie Underwood, who got her start winning American Idol back in 2005.

Says Brad, “It’s like, ‘OK, try to get that person all the way to the end so they get a record deal and America knows their name and buys their albums.'”

Josh Groban hosts ABC’s Rising Star premiering Sunday, June 22 at 9 p.m. ET.
