A dust storm in Geary county kept first responders busy on Friday afternoon. An accident involving seven different vehicles was triggered by the dust blowing across I-70 westbound near mile marker 293.

A chain reaction started when Tanner Hassel, 21, of Leoti, was driving westbound in a 2008 Chevy Silverado and struck 18-year old Alejandro Espinoza, of Abilene, due to decreased visibility. This caused a chain reaction sending two people to the hospital. David Geist, 54, of Hoxie, was transported to Geary Community Hospital. Twenty-eight year old Jordan Davies of Abilene was transported to Abilene Memorial Hospital. Everyone is reported to have been wearing seatbelts.

Ben Gardner, PIO with the Kansas Highway Patrol, tweeted updates of the hectic day of traffic in Geary county.
