The Manhattan City Commission reviewed recommendations Tuesday contained in the latest draft of the Flint Hills/Fort Riley Joint Land Use Study.

One such recommendation involves noise produced by Fort Riley and how it impacts potential home buyers close to the installation.

Specifically, Fort Riley and the City of Manhattan have suggested a solution that ties noise disclosures to real estate transactions near post. Should the solution be implemented, the noise disclosure would automatically pop up in a title search.

Another recommendation calls for the retooling of the study’s technical working group into an implementation committee, which Project Manager, Ray Greer with Santec explained was an important step in moving the study forward.

The Manhattan City Commission reviewed the 2016 Annual Economic Development Report, Tuesday.

“All reporting companies met or exceeded their agreement requirements and no forgivable loan repayment was required,” said Courtney Kramer, senior financial analyst with the City of Manhattan.

Kramer added that 1,415 jobs have been created to-date as a result of the program.
