City Park was host to the 9/11 Day of Remembrance on Sunday where several dignitaries were on hand for the event.
Guests laid 2,987 American flags with names of the victims who perished on that fateful day 22 years ago in the park. This included five flags being laid by Kansas Lieutenant Governor David Toland who gave a few remarks at the ceremony.

Toland spoke about the unity that the nation had after the tragedy and said that unity can be also formed not just after tragedy but in triumph as well in this country and in the state of Kansas.

Retired general Perry Wiggins, state representatives Mike Dodson and Sydney Carlin and first responders were on hand as well for the event.
A picnic dinner was held after the ceremony for guests and dignitaries in attendance for the event.
